A: From April 4, 1803 to May 5, 1869, male persons
of the age of 18 years and female persons of the age of 14 years could be joined
in marriage. But male persons under the age of 21 years and female persons
under the age of 18 must first obtain the consent of their fathers,
respectively, or (in the case of the death or incapacity of their fathers) of
their mothers or guardians.
B: From May 5, 1869 to Feb. 10, 1870, male persons of the age of 18 years and female persons of the age of 16 years could be joined in marriage. But both males and females under the age of 21 years must first obtain consent of their fathers, mothers, or guardians as stated in A above. C: From Feb 10, 1870, the marriageable ages of males and females are the same as in B above, but male persons under the age of 21 years and female persons under the age of 18 years must first obtain consent of their fathers, mothers, or guardians as stated in A above. |
