Library Walking Challenge

Turn in your steps by June 5th. If you have reported your steps each week, not only do you have the chance of winning the book, "Cook This Not That", but the grand prize of an ipod as well. Let's go Bellaire!

Do you enjoy a challenge and are at least 16 years old? Patrons and staff of the Bellaire Public Library are competing against those from the Martins Ferry Public Library and the St. Clairsville Public Library communities in a friendly Walking Challenge. We have given away free pedometers to the first 100 people who sign up at each library. Kick-Off began on March 18th. The library who has the most walkers to sign up will win. The library with the highest percentage of walkers who complete the challenge will also win. Walkers set their own personal goals and improvement pace. After the first week, walkers will increase their steps by 10% every two weeks. Once their progress is reported their names are entered into the bi-weekly incentive drawings. Optional nutrition and wellness educational sessions are held at each library as well. This program is made possible by the Ohio State University Extension Office who secured an American Cancer Society Virginia Gasaway Community Investment Grant.
